Pressolink is a medical telemonitoring system developed by our partner company, Soft Telemonitoring Services. This system allows pregnant women who have hypertension to monitor their blood pressure throughout their pregnancy.
Blood pressure monitoring is done mainly at home. Then nurses can check measures from their computers available at the hospital.
Indeed, Pressolink service includes a tensiometer which has been added a control and communication module that sends blood pressure and heart rate data on a web server. Once intercepted, data are processed and may be visible from a website where each nurse monitors her patients. Several levels of permissions can be assigned to users to access the database. These permissions include the affectation of doctors to patients but also access to health checkups of each patient.
The purpose of this project, defined by our STS partner, was to recreate a complete website which wiould meet the nurses’ needs. This device being already in test in one hospital, we could meet and discuss with several nurses who use this Pressolink system. Having access to the old website and midwifes’ comments, we understood that the current website was neither ergonomic nor intuitive. Thanks to research but also according to the willingness of midwives, we have created a website coming up to their expectations. A better arrangement of headings, online help on all pages and a detailed menu bar visible all the time allowed better website usability.
Blood pressure and heart rate as well as other information are printed in a PDF format for each patient. As easy access and time saving were necessary, we made changes in the way the summary was produced in order to lighten the content and to print it out and send it faster.
At the beginning, the website was coded in ASP.NET language to resume bases of the old website. Then after a change of mind of the company and for a long term evolution, we recoded the whole website in PHP/MySQL.
